WHO
WE ARE

Liberi Ludi is an international non-profit, registered in Belgium as an AISBL (association internationale sans but lucratif). Our name is Latin for "children's games" and points to what we believe is at the heart of every child's development: the right to play, to make, and to author something of their own.

We work with children in situations of migration: migrant children, refugee children, and children whose families move repeatedly between linguistic and cultural environments. We support their adaptation and social integration through art and storytelling, including the making of their own short animated films.

Liberi Ludi was founded in 2026 by Maria Povoroznyuk, translator, educator and child psychologist, and Ernest Shur, journalist and publisher, both with significant professional experience in the non-profit sector. Maria and Ernest have first-hand knowledge of the challenges of adaptation and integration faced by children in migration; they came together on this project to bring their full professional and personal experience to bear on it.

Our work is independent, secular, and grounded in the humanist tradition of European democracy.
